James wasn't an alcoholic. I feel the need to express this before continuing the rest of the post. He was, I suppose, a beer connoisseur of Coopers Ale. So when a group of his mates invited him out for a drink, he was more than happy to go out.
Starting what he said was going to be his last beer and was his fourth 'last beer' (he'd had five), James was just as merry as half of his mates. He wasn't obnoxious, but was funny and visibly tipsy. And of course, we all know the worst thing for drunk people to be offered.
No, it's not what you think. It's karaoke.
When the offer was given for people in the audience to come up non to the stage and sing a song of their choice, James looked at the list and gave a chuckle. It was between 'I'm Too Sexy' and 'Ruby' before he noticed 'Story of a Girl' and quickly flipped through the lyrics.
He'd been right; it was a song he remembered. And it reminded him of a friend of his; Keely.
Taking the microphone and clearing his throat, he looked out into the crowd and laughed.
"Hey. My name is James.. 'Scuse me for my, er, current state." he said with a grin. Oh yeah, he knew he was tipsy. But it as all good. "I'd like to sing 'Story of a Girl' to ya'll. Dedicatin' it to mah friend, Keely." he chuckled because he was being ridiculous. Nobody dedicated karaoke songs.. Well, aside from James. But the song did very much remind him of Keely.

Keely meandered through the crowd, in search of somewhere to sit down. She didn't even see James go up onto the stage, but upon hearing his familiar voice over the speakers, she stopped a few metres away from the front of the stage. What is he doing? she thought to herself when he said he was dedicating the song to her, blushing a deep shade of scarlett. Crossing her arms loosely, she watched him up there on the stage, noting that he was a pretty good singer.

James had been hit - shock horrifyingly, with the overuse of semi-colons; oh no! But I am afraid, there wasn't much he could do about this. Especially considering he was starting to feel a bit tired and yawned.. Oh no, that's me!
By this time, James was singing with a few embellishments.
"How many days of the year, she woke up with hope but only found tears?!" he belted out, unawares that Keely was in the audience.
Until, like. Right at the end. Whereupon he promptly waved directly to her, a tad tipsy.

Keely managed to stifle the burst of laughter that almost came out when he waved, he was obviously quite tipsy and it was somewhat amusing, keeping it to an small smile instead. She waved back, wondering how much he'd actually had to drink before he got up there.

James smiled a little dozily in Keely's direction, his face contorted into tipsy happiness. Because now that he remembered, the two double-shots of Black Douglas couldn't have helped, just before they left to go to the pub. Stepping down from the stage, he had a vice-like grip on the banister that (for all who were paying the slightest bit of attention to his biceps) seemed to make his arm grow tenfold.
And stop him from falling off the stairs before he reached the bottom. Wandering over to where Keely sat, he slumped down into one of the chairs, the silly grin still well and truly plastered on to his face.
"Hey K-" he said, then stopped. Whilst drunk, James was apt at saying things wrong. But he always knew he was going to say it wrong, so he would stop. And think. Then say again. "Hey Keely. Whatsho think of my singin'?" his voice a little louder than normal.

"Ah, it wasn't too shabby, it was quite good in fact," Keely replied, giving James a smile. She smoothed out the skirt of the red dress she was wearing, the small bump of her growing stomach visible under the red fabric. She still wasn't really used to having it there, sometimes it was easy to forget that she was pregnant, then she just had to look down and the realisation would dawn upon her that she was.

James laughed heartily even though what Keely had said wasn't that funny. But he was drunk, what could you expect? Sitting up in the chair a little, James' eyes roamed around randomly watching things and people as they passed. But then his head snapped forward and he looked at Keely closely as she smoothed her dress over her bump.
"You're not drinking, are you? Cause if you are, I'll has to remove you from he-" and he stopped again, thinking, then started once more. "I'll have to remove you from here."

"No, I'm not drinking, I promise...so there will be no need to remove me from here" Keely replied, laughing slightly. She didn't really drink much anyways, let alone while she was pregnant, she wouldn't even dream of doing so while she was. She shifted slightly in her seat, they weren't exactly the most comfortable things in the world.

"Goodgood." James replied, yawning slightly. "Cause like, without a doubt I could pick you up. But in this state, it'd be dangerous for this both of us." he agreed with himself by nodding his head several times; this, after the first nod, just appeared to be his head getting caught in a bounce pattern and his muscles too lazy to stop the movement.
Annnd, then his mates arrived. Well, one or two, anyway. They set down a double shot of Wild Turkey for him, and he looked at them and sighed. "Honestly?" as they nodded, laughing. With another sigh, he picked up the glass and downed the drink. He handed the frosted glass to them, and they left James and Keely in peace once more.
"That.. Is going to hit me like a tonne of bricks." he said, suppressing a burp in polite company.

Keely laughed. "Rather you than me...if you add me and alcohol together, you don't get the best mix," she replied, the hint of laughter still in her voice. On the odd occasion she did get drunk, she tended to go a little crazy, not that she didn't tend to go a little crazy without alcohol, it was more of a crazier than usual thing.

"Keelssh... I would normally not ask thiss of someone.. But I have a sneakin suspishin that, were I to try and stand up, I would fall.. And, the room iss spinning." he said, when caught off guard randomly by your eyes. "I like greeen...." he said happily, trailing off.. Before realising he hadn't finished his sentence. "Eyes.."
Shaking his head quickly, once to each side, he spoke clearly for a few seconds. "I need to go home 'for the bastards get me more drunk." he said.

"And you would like a lift there? I'm sure I can do that for you, considering, I still owe you for when I arrived," Keely replied, smiling. "I'm guessing you need help to stand up as well?" she asked, laughing slightly, standing up herself.

"I fink I can stand.." James replied, slowing standing up, swaying a little.. Before re-thinking his ability to walk anywhere. "Although, perhaps if you were beside me, just to help me balance." he said, opening his eyes wider to help him adjust. It didn't help, and in fact made him sway backwards just a little more.

"Okies," Keely said, going to his side and holding his elbow gently to help steady him. She steered him out of the club and to her car, unlocking the doors, she opened the passenger's door and guided him into the car and closed the door after him. Soon, they were pulling out of the carpark, the sounds of Green Day playing in the background. They reached James' house after a while, Keely pulled up in the driveway and killed the engine. She got out of the car and went around to James' door to help him get out.

James sat in the car, his head nodding. Whether it was to the beat of the song - he really liked Green Day - or due to the motion of the car, nobody will ever know. It wasn't long before they were in his driveway. Because seriously, Aura Valley was a small town. 15 minutes from one side of it to the other. But like I said, then they were at James' place. With Keelys help, holding his elbow, James managed to get out of the car and up to the house whereupon he realised he had to unlock the door to get in. Cursing with several choice words, he then blushed remembering Keely was still not only within ear-shot, but right next to him. He didn't want her to think he swore all the time - in fact, he hardly swore at all.
Finally, he found the key and stumbled inside. Correcting this stumble just inside the door by leaning on a wall that seemed to be rotating, which at the time he thought was pretty awesome for a wall, he took a further two more steps and fell down on to the couch, where he closed his eyes and sighed, sitting for a few minutes.
Upon opening his eyes, he saw Keely in the single chair almost across from him. Smiling drunkenly (merrily, lol), he studied her features. She had pale-ish skin, but incredibly vibrant green eyes. As he'd stated earlier, he liked green eyes... But to set it all off, she had piercing black, curly hair. He'd always liked curly hair - he often thought that, were he a girl, he would have curly hair. Then his brain floated off once more, piecing together questions and comments that, were he not blind drunk, he would never ironically take the blind leap of saying them.
"Keels.." he said, and stopped for a minute or two. Train of thought had clearly derailed, but never fear! A brilliant mechanic had righted this situation, and the train was chugging along as well as ever (for a drunk train). "I.. I.. I think.." he said, getting caught up again elsewhere again. Dude, perhaps this isn't such a good ide- "I rully think I like you.. And.." he paused again.
"And I think we could go well together.."
