My motto is...
"Treat people the way you wish to be treated."
Alright, I'm done. Hope you like my list and it helps. I may add other etiquette tips as I remember. Toodles.
"Treat people the way you wish to be treated."
- It's always polite to be welcome in a thread. For instance, if people have a thread that is obviously only for themselves and another - don't enter. Whilst it would have been easier for them to put [Closed] in the thread topic, some times people forget. Also, whilst some roleplays do not have this and are open, when people are past a page or so without anybody else having entered and there seems to be a good conversation and a good roleplay streaming - don't interrupt.
- Read the RP before you post - or at least the last ten posts. Know where the members of the thread are, and don't exclude them. It is important, especially, not to change the point of a thread when you enter.
- Post order is very important to keep. Post order is when a group of people post in sequence after each other. For example, Jojo posts. Then Mojo posts and after him, Ethan posts. Now, Jojo is a little slow replying and Mojo and Ethan want to roleplay - which is easily done. But in the process of RPing between themselves continuously, Jojo gets forgotten. So, occasionally it's fine for Mojo and Ethan to post a few times, but then Jojo has to be able to post with everybody again.
- Everybody wants to play. It's no fun waking up and finding you're no longer included anymore - and that the roleplay has gone somewhere else completely. If you are aware that a member of the roleplay is offline and may be for sometime, don't fill the thread with posts amongst each other (somewhat referring to part three of RP etiquette *listed above).
- Realism is a great way to make a RP seem real (funny thing that). Understand that not everybody is born stinkin' rich, and not everybody is a superhuman of the horse world - nor are their horses superhorses. Normal pleasure horses are great too, you know. Whilst it is an easy way to get things, working for things is much more fun. Horses - why not have a randomly occuring problem that your owner has to sort out? Humans - why not be suffering from a money shortage, after all. Not everybodies perfect.
- Spell check your post! I cannot possibly stress this enough. Silly mistakes that can easily have been avoided by spell checking your post down-grades the view people have on it. You will look a much more proficient and capable of writing if you spell things correctly and use correct grammar - for instance, putting 'talk' in quotation marks ( " and "). Rushing will not do you any good - by rushing, mostly, all you ever gain is a few short seconds. And it's better that people can understand you, right?
- Ever heard of writers block? Amongst picture manipulators and roleplayers alike, we have dubbed the thoughts and ability to make such things happen as 'muse'. Now, when you're out of muse, you pretty much have writers block. You can think of nothing to write or create, and even when you strain, you can only write and create a very bare minimum. This can be helped, occasionally. Sometimes it's just because you're not in the mood to write - which is fair enough. Not everybody feels like writing all the time. But another reason for muselessness can be the persons post you're replying to. Think about it, when you write a post next. What will the person have to reply to? Have you asked them any questions? Will they have anything to say? Generally, one sentence long posts with all dialog in them will not help the person after you. It may take you longer, but in time, it's better and the roleplay is more fulfilling.
