Silky lifted her head over the stable door. Was there a person coming? Oh she dearly hoped so. The mare enjoyed a humans company. She shifted her weight from side to side, looking from left to right. Her near forelock throbbed with intense pain, the mare had not long been injured. With the passing of her elderly owner, she was 12 weeks out of work, at least. And the little mare was not much to look at, her hide was thick and bony, and her body lacked essential body fat. Sometimes well meaning barn users would throw her over a bit of grain or so, and the groom made sure that she got her daily roughage - hay and chaff. But Silky wasn't putting on weight fast. She again glanced over the stable door, pricking her ears for the first time in hours. Human? Human?

Lily parked her truck and got out, not bothering to lock the doors as she put the keys in her pocket. There was nothing worth stealing in it anyway, plus she trusted the people out here. She'd met several of them, and they were all pretty nice. She strolled into the barn, glancing into stalls as she made her way down the main aisle, and a new horse caught her eye, one she hadn't seen before. Stopping, she walked over and peered in. "Hi, sweety. You poor thing, you look hungry. Hold on just a minute." Lily went into the feed room and grabbed a scoop of grain, putting it in a bucket, which she took into the lounge. Opening the fridge, she was glad to find two eggs. She broke them and put them into the grain, mixing it well. It was an old trick to help fatten up a skinny horse. Lily brought the bucket back out to the mare's stall and dumped it into her feed trough. "There ya go, try that."

Silky ducked into the well prepared feed, muching softly and occasionally looking up to see Lily. Her warm kindness and care was evident. Silky tried to slip in a wink, but humans often don't realise them - and returned back to the food. She lifted her fetlock, it was very sore. And held it up as if to offer it to Lily. Her eyes seem to plead "Can you fix it?" ooc - Thanks for RPling with me

Lily watched the mare dig into the feed. Hopefully it would help put some meet on her bones. "Who owns you, sweetheart?" If noone did, Lily soon would. This horse needed some love and attention, someone who would be here to take care of her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the mare pick up her foot. Opening the gate, she went in and picked it up, being careful with her still-sore shoulder, gently feeling out the injury. There was some heat in the fetlock, a sure sign of injury. The question was what kind and how bad? Maybe she should call a vet.

Silky sifted her muzzle through Lily's hair. This kind person was much appreciated. She wondered if one day Lily could own her. And they could canter in the showjumping arena or dressage arenas. And gallop through Aura Valleys trails and paddocks. Silky loved that idea. She nickered to Lily as if to say "Take care of me."

"Well, sweety, I'm not sure exactly what's going on with your ankle, but I'll put some ice on it and wrap it. If it doesn't get better we'll call a vet for you." Walking out of the stall, Lily went to the lounge and got ice, then stopped in the tack room to get a vet wrap before heading back to the mare. She wrap the leg and packed it with ice, then stood and gave the mare a pat. "There, is that better?"

Silky couldn't understand what Lily was saying, but she knew Lily would be trying to help her. She noticed the girl walk out of the stable as if to leave. This distressed the mare, and she began pawing with her non injured leg. Eventually the mare stopped her pawing, and hung her head over the wooden stable door, occasionally bitting it.
She drifted off into a typical dream of her late owner, and the times they spent together. Although Silky thoroughly missed her previous owner, she enjoyed Lily's company and wondered when Lily will take the time to visit her again.
The mare than dazed off over the stable door pointing toward the other people and their horses.
Suddenly, Lily returned. And Silky's ears pricked up with delight. Lily applied a soft veterinary leg wrap to her fetlock. It pulled occasionally, and felt a little uncomfortable. But Silky was just thankful that someone was trying to take care of her.
Silky heard a groom come into the barn, following a vet. She wondered if this vet was going to help her?
