Word Count = 277 It's been a long day of swimming. Now instead of playing video games, Michael decides to take a long stroll in the park. Picture it: A nice autumn sun setting over the tall oak trees, there's a cold breeze, and you can hear the faint chirp of the crickets. Perfectly cliche isn't it? Well, it was a different sound than the splash of the water and the toots of the whistle that his coach made. Much more relaxing. Mike takes a long, retractable leash out of his pocket, along with a few pieces of gum. He brought his English Bulldog, Herman, along for the walk too. Mike pops the two strawberry pieces of gum into his mouth. " Who's a good boy?" Michael says, his words gurgled. He latches the leash onto the loop. clink! It's a bit chilly this evening, but that's what he loves about Autumn. Chilly evenings make good opportunities to wear his favorite University of Michigan sweatshirt. But there is no one to actually share the walks with, that's the problem. Only his lazy little dog. So Mike continues inching his way down the paths, watching the fire flies float past them. Herman snorts and jiggles as one lands on his nose. Michael smiles and chuckles. When he looks up, he can see someone off in the distance. Which was interesting, because no one seemed to be out in the park. Herman stops his hissy-fit with the bug to look up and out. Hope it's not one of those people that come to mug you in the night...

ABBY O'REILLY
Abby jogged past many people, smiling as she went by. She had been jogging for probably about fourty minutes. She hadnt gone jogging in awhile, so she was starting to get a bit tired. She slowed down a little, still jogging though, she watched the leaves fall. 'Man i need to meet some people around here. I've been here for almost a week, and im already a little bored' She sighed, walking now. Looking ahead, she saw a man, walking his dog. As he came closer, she looked at his face mose closly. Hoping she wasnt blushing, she stopped, waiting for him to take a few more steps closer. Mind if i pet your dog? She asked, reaching down to pet the Bulldog. After giving it a small scratch behind the ears, she stood back up, twirling a small piece of hair around her finger. She adjusted her pro rap headband, tucking in all her loose hairs, and then reached out her hand to shake his. Hi, i'm Abby She said smiling.

"No! He bites!" he said jokingly as Abby went to pet Herman. "Hi, I'm Mike." Michael grabbed her hand and shook it a little. Well she doesn't look like she's gonna mug me. he thought to himself.
Michael fumbled with the leash a little. "So you like to run, eh?" he said with a little chuckle, he was still trying to picture her as a robber. "I run sometimes, but I mostly swim. Running is such a hassle if I take Herman, as you can see." Right then Herman wraps his leash up in Abby's legs. Mike starts circling her, trying to untangle them both. Jeeze, Herman! You make me look stupid!
While Abby was telling about her running, he really couldn't stop staring at her eyes. They were so stunning...

Do you believe things can happen, at first sight?
Haha, Abby had paused a minute, before petting him. She smiled, blushing slightly. Nice to meet you Mike She ran her hand along her ponytail. I run from time to time. Never competing though. Haha, i can see why it would be a hassle She replied, as she turned, untangling herself. The English bulldog wiped a bit of slobber on her as he walked by, but she paid no attention. Something about this guy wouldn't let her stop looking. She couldn't really think what it could be though. She didn't really believe in love, or even really liking somebody at first sight. I used to swim as a kid, but i had to drop either it, or riding. And i chose to stick with riding. I just couldn't sell my horse. I still loved watching it though. What are your main events? She smiled leaning a little to one side.
Her long pony tail was sitting slightly on her shoulder. Her eyes sparkled a little, as the sun found a hole through the trees. A small brown leaf fluttered down between them. Dancing through the air, until it landed softly on the path.
Fall was defiantly one of her favorite seasons. Fall and spring. Everything always looked so beautiful. Leaves changing colour, flowers blossoming. Sometimes, things almost looked surreal.

"Oh, I see." Mike said, smiling. "Horses are such fascinating animals. It's such a shame that I never actually been given the chance to get on one." And no, he's not just saying that. He was so busy with swimming that he didn't really get much chance to tend to his other hobbies. Which he hardly had any...But he wanted some new ones.
"You should totally try swimming sometime! It's so much fun. The main events I like to do are the 200m freestyles and the relays with my team are super fun." he finished, boasting a bit. Not one person can help boasting a little when you talk about your favorite thing in the world! But he had to stop himself, he had a tendency to rant.
It started getting even more chilly than before. Michael shook a little. A cold sensation ran from the tip of his toes and shot up his spine. It actually made him look like he was having a miniature seizure. "Buurh! It's cold." he whispered. He folded his arms with the leash tucked under them. He didn't really mind standing out in the cold. Abby was really sweet and easy to talk to. And someone new. Michael could get use to this.

What a little flirt Thats too bad. So you dont ride then? Abby was slightly suprised, before moving here she had heard almost everybody here owned horses. I guess he was one of the few that didnt. Or her informer was totally off with the information; which is definatly possible.
I'd love to swim again. Maybe you could teach me, i didnt really learn much when i was younger. Abby said, smiling. She couldnt help flirting a little, i mean c'mon, have you seen this guy? Relays always seemed like fun, i did them in track, but never in the pool
Abby shiverd after Mike did. It was contagious, the same way a yawn is. You dont know why, but after somebody does it, you have to a few seconds after. Abby rubbed her arms a little, before folding them across her chest, trying to get warmer. Maybe we could go for coffee, to warm ourselfs up. If your dog doesnt mind She paused, hoping that this guy was interested in her, she didnt need to be embarrassed. 'Even if we are just friends, its a start..' she thought to herself. But she knew, thats not really what she wanted to happen. Not at the moment anyway.

"Yeah, I've never ridden before. It's kinda sad. I'm 23 and never even been on a horse before." Michael said embarrassingly. All Michael really did was eat, sleep, and swim. No time for anything else. But now he is settling down a little, so now he could catch up on other things he missed out on.
He bounces on his feet a few times, pondering a thought. "Hey, if you teach me to ride, I can teach you how to swim." The excitement almost jumped out of him. This is going smoothly. New friend? Maybe more? Can't really tell at this point. It's best to just take it one step at a time. "Oh yeah. And coffee sounds great. Herman won't mind, I'll just stuff him in my car like I always do." he exclaimed jokingly.
The leaves rustled around his feet, as if they were dancing. Herman started chasing the leaves that levitated above him. Chomp! Chomp! Winter is approaching rapidly. Which is his favorite time of year. Lots of cuddling. Haha. Well maybe. But the snow is so beautiful and white. It's quite a romantic season.

Do you like the colour red? Okay, great! Abby said excitedly smiling as she spoke again. And ill definatly take you up on the offer to teach you how to ride. Its a deal She shifted her body weight the other way, leaning a little to oneside. Uncrossing her arms, she fiddled with the extra elastic band on her wrist. She could definatly tell she was blushing a little bit. She always did with people she didnt know very well. She just hoped that her blushing wouldnt last long. That is, if they lasted.
Haha, okay great She said laughing as he said how Herman wouldnt mind.
Okay, well i guess ill meet you there in half an hour. Bye Herman She said, bending down to give him one last scratch behind his ears, before standing up, and jogging back towards her car.
Jogging back, she tried to take her mind off of him just for a second. To let her heart rate slow down a little, and to take the red out of her cheeks from blushing. She tried to focus on all the colours, and the leaves falling down quickly. 'Winters on its way' She thought to herself. 'And so is one of my favorite holidays, Christmas' She though happily. The look on peoples faces when they open a gift makes it worth it if you had to spend loads, or had to search and search. 'In my books, its definatly one of the best holidays'

Herman starts trotting after Abby but Mike takes the leash and pushes the button to prevent the leash from getting longer. "You can play with her later, Herman." he promised, giving him a pat. Michael watches her go out to her car, making she got in it safely. It was just a polite thing to do. He started walking the other way to reach his own car. They walked pretty far.
Michael couldn't wait to warm up and get to know Abby. So then he started jogging himself all the way to his car. He sets Herman in the passenger seat and unhooks the leash. The car engine roars as he turns the key. Now off to the Coffee shop!
