Dustin stood beside Cruize, he'd tied the stallion to the side of the float just after getting him to the race-track. looking around, Dustin smiled, he loved letting Cruize run, although he wasn't sure whether that would be the best idea, with his current condition. With a small sigh, Dustin started tacking him up quickly..
Once happy with all the straps and do-dads, Dustin walked Cruize away from the car and float, just to be safe, he'd put a martingale on Cruize, and it looked good. Dustin jumped on Cruize's ack and started trotting him aroun, to get him warmed up.

Driving up to the track, Lily noticed that someone had had the same idea as she had on this beautiful morning. More than that, she recongnized that car to belong to Dustin, and was even happier. Dustin was a lot of fun, and she loved hanging out with him. Parking next to his car, she waved a quick hello to the young man on his horse and quickly walked back to her trailer. Letting down the ramp, she walked in and untied Windy, leading him down the ramp and to the side of the trailer where she tied him. Grabbing his saddle and bridle from the small room in the front of the trailer, she had him tacked up in moments, making sure the girth was snug.
Lily couldn't wait to take a run with her new horse. It had been a long time, but she'd always loved to ride fast. There had been a time in her youth when she'd wanted to be a race rider, but those dreams had quickly melted away. Untying the stallion, she mounted and walked over to the track, joining Dustin as she warmed up her horse. "Morning, Dustin, and Cruize." She could see her breath slightly in the chilly autumn air. Good thing she'd warn a sweater over her long-sleeved shirt. If she was chilly now, wait til they hit full speed.

Windy recognized the track and and a spring formed into his steps. He kept his red colored ears perked forward, curious to new sounds. He neighed to another horse that was there. He stood still and waited for Lily to give him another command. While he waited, he remembered the wind in his face, everything blur as he raced.

Dustin kept a tight reign on Cruize, Last time he'd let him loose, it didn't turn out to well, ending in a fall. He saw Lily arrive with a horse float and smiled, even though he'd come here so no one would see Cruize's current condition, he felt sort of embarressed about it.
Dustin slowed Cruize down as he felt him starting to speed up, he could feel All the stallions muscles tensing with every stride. Dustin nodded as Lily came up beside him. hey, whats up? Without any effort Dustin held Cruize's head up as he started throwing it around, trying to go faster. Dustin laughed, Lily had only ever seen Cruize while he was behaving, but he was different when on the track, he turned into a racehorse again.

ooc: what happened to cruize? any physical marks i need to make note of?
Lily laughed a little as she watched the stallions antics, minding her own mount's growing energy, as well. She'd never ridden him before, much less raced him, but she felt confident about it. She was comfortable in this role, it was natural for her, and it felt so good, so right. "Looks like he's ready to go. Same manure, different day." A broad smile graced her features as she spoke. She'd always liked her own little twist on the saying. "How about you? Anything new?"

Dustin sat back to Cruize's rythem, he didn't like Cruize like this, and held onto the reigns extra tight. As he felt Cruize get even more worked up, Dustin sighed and turned his head towards Lily as he heard her voice. He reached forward and rubbed Cruizes almost black neck, then looked at Lily again and laughed. well, not much, i bought a new horse, and I'm thinking of putting this guy up for lease.
ooc- he's a really dark bay, almost black, no markings

Keeping Windy at an easy trot, she turned most of her attention to dustin as they kept up their conversation. "That's pretty cool. If I hadn't just bought this guy, I'd lease him in a heartbeat. Hey, I might still lease him. Depends on how well I manage with Deductive and Windy here, though." Dang, she was just a little late. If she'd known he was going to lease Cruize out, she might not have bought Windy. Oh well, Windy was still just what she was looking for. A steeplechaser. Supposedly fast, but also a good jumper.

Windy steadied his pace so it was smooth, not overly bouncy. Flicked an ear back towards Lily, so incase she told his something. He looked at the Stallion next to him, a dark bay. Windy flicked his tail and perked his head up a bit.

Dustin laughed, alot of people took interest in Cruize, maybe 'coz he was quiet, that usually helped. Slowing Cruize down more, He looked at Lily and smiled. haha! you like him i guess. i haven't Decided yet, might win a few more Showjumping shows on him before i do that, make him worth more, he cant race anymore. Dustin rubbed his head and gave Cruize his head as he settled down. oh, hey, i bought a house not long ago, if you ever wanted somewhere to stay let me know.. He wasn't trying to make any moves, just being friendly, he knew how much it could cost if you didn't know anyone to offer cheap accomodation.
Cruize shook his head and snorted, having another horse beside him caused him to get competitive, he chewed on the bit, even after white throf started dripping from his mouth.

"Ya, he's a great horse, and he's so well trained. I can't wait for a show to come up again, but I know it probably won't be until Spring." She thought the offer of a shared house over for a moment. They'd become pretty good friends in her mind, so it wouldn't be so bad. Might actually be a lot of fun. "Well, as long as you promise not to have too many parties, I might just take you up on that offer." Her apartment was nice and all, but it would be really nice to live in a house.

Lily laughed with him. "Well that's good. Too bad you work nights, we won't see each other that much with me working days. At least I'll have a few days off each week." Figuring they'd trotted enough, she urged Windy into a collected canter. She wanted to get a feel for the horse before pushing the limits, and she wanted him to expend at least some of his energy so he would be easier to control. "You alright? Having a problem with your eyes?"

Windy straightened out his body and picked up his pace a bit. His hooves hit the ground with soft thud each time. His gait was still smooth as silk. He kept his simple, so it wouldn't tire him out to quickly. He lifted his head a bit higher, and kept watching everything around.

Dustin smiled and checked cruize, to make sure he was okay, he still wasn't sure how much he could do while he was in his current condition. yea, i don't start until like 1-2am soo, there is time and i get home between 9-10am. Dustin ran his fingers through his hair then scruffed it up a little, he kept his eye out for things that could spook the horses while keeping him beside Windy. no, theres nothing wrong with my eyes, I'm just tired.

Lily watched him run his fingers through his hair and imagined her fingers doing the same thing. She turned her head away to hide the grin that appeared at the thought, collecting herself before looking forward again. "My hours could be anywhere from 9am-11pm. You never know. And ya, I know what it's like to be tired, but something about this morning has awakened me. Maybe it's just being out on the track. I love it here, it's like home." She gave Windy a pat, hoping he was enjoying the morning as much as she was. His canter really was quite nice, and she was thinking of the possibilities for this horse as they circled the track.
