Keely straightened up, pushing her hair out of her face with one shaking hand. "Okay," she replied, her nervousness showing through her voice. She really was scared, she hadn't been expecting this at all, and now could barely think about anything her doctor had said about what to do once she started getting contractions. Taking a few deep breaths she started eating the omelette James had given her, attempting to collect her thoughts.

James walked down the hall, attempting to be calm, but scared out of his mind at the same time. He collected various things, from the spare set of clothing that Keely left at his place, to a toothbrush he had bought here to keep there. Stuffing these into a bag, he walked back down to Keely and laid a hand on her shoulder gently.

Keely finished the omelette just as James came back into the kitchen. She managed to give him a somewhat pained smile as she turned to look at him. "Though the sight isn't bad, you're going to need a shirt, I don't think the hospital staff will appreciate a shirtless man walking around their hospital," she said, the humour mainly there to try calm herself, and James as well, he looked just as scared as she felt.

James started to cuss softly, when he realised that soon there would be a baby - now was pretty much the time to stop swearing, forever. Cursing in his brainz, he then went down to his bedroom again, slipping a t-shirt on and some slightly more appropriate shoes (old thongs do not equal appropriate shoes, in my opinion), before pocketing a small velvet box from his bedside table draw, and walking back down to Keely with the bag of her stuff she'd left in the hall.
"C'mon, let's talk you to the hospital." he said, feeling a little more confident now.

Keely stood up while James went to put a shirt on, using the table and the chair to push herself upright. She nodded at his words when he came back out and started making her way towards the front door slowly, wishing that her 'waddle' were somewhat faster right now. While she was walking she pulled her car keys from her pocket and held them out to James.

Taking the keys from her, and placing the hand on the small of her back, James walked Keely outside, locking the house and carrying her bag on his right shoulder. Opening the passenger door for her, he held it open, waiting for her to get in and sit.

Keely got into the car, murmuring a soft thankyou to James accompanied by a small smile for getting the door for her. Once in the car, she put her seatbelt on, a nervous flutter in her stomach, she didn't think she was ready for this.

Closing the door gently, James then walked around to the drivers side. Opening the door for himself, he got in and put the keys in the ignition, starting the car and setting the radio whilst putting his seatbelt on. Giving a reassuring smile to Keely, he put the car in reverse and off they went.

Early morning sunlight made its way through the blinds that were half closed on the hospital window, and Keely woke up, she had been sleeping for hours. She pushed herself into a sitting position, green eyes immediately falling onto the hospital cradle sitting right next to her bed, which held her baby. Her little Leo. She couldn't help but smile, it still amazed her that she was even a mother, but seeing him made everything she'd been through worth it, and now she couldn't imagine not having him at all. She reached over and very gently picked Leo up, making sure she didn't wake him from his peaceful slumber. Cradling him against her she studied him in silence, his thick mop of dark hair, his tiny hands, ears and fingernails, thinking about how perfect he was.

James was sound asleep in the corner on a chair - he'd been up most of the night, watching Leo and Keely. It had been a long night, and after Keely had fallen asleep, he had stayed awake, keeping watch over his two most favorite people in the world. It had been another few hours before he slept; the sun had been on the verge of rising, a brilliant purple tinge in the sky.

Keely turned her gaze to James, he look exhausted. She had a small smile on her face as she watched him sleep, she was so happy he was there with her, but she thought she might send him home soon to get a proper sleep. Leo started making soft waking noises, little grunts and sighs as he began to fidget into wakefullness, and that pulled Keely's attention away to settle him before he began to cry so he wouldn't wake James.

James slept wistfully in the recliner. It was for breastfeeding mothers, but he figured they wouldn't mind him passing out on it for a while. His chest rose and lowered slowly; rhythmically - his breathing steady.
He was a deep sleeper, so consequently any small noises Leo made didn't wake him up - he wasn't in tune, yet. What did wake him, was accidentally letting go of the cup that was in his hand. It was an empty coffee cup that'd been with him all night, but not having it in his hand felt weird. Stirring, he slowly opened an eye.

Leo didn't cry when he woke up fully, merely lying there, curled up in Keely's arms, looking up at her with big blue eyes. One tiny fist was curled around her finger, just an automatic reflex for him, but to Keely it felt comfortable having it there. She looked back over at James again, noticing he had woken up, gave him a small smile. "Hey, you look exhausted," she said quietly.

James started with the every-day things, first off. Like the mumble-grumble of being awake. Before he was truly awake, if you know what I mean? The temptation to just roll over and ignore the world once more. But then he remembered, and he slowly opened both eyes fully, letting them adjust to the light. Which was fairly easy, mind you. The sun was still gently rising and it was still fairly dim in the private hospital room. He saw Keely with Leo and smiled. They looked perfect there together.
"Hey.." he said back softly, not yet registering her other comment as he gazed at the beauty in front of him.
Then it registered. "Me? Exhausted? Yes, because I totally just had a 15 hour labour." he chuckled softly, standing up and walking over to them.

Keely let out a soft laugh at his comment. "Well, those fifteen hours have to be some of the most worthwhile hours of my life. Definitely worth it..." she replied, looking back down at Leo as she spoke. She still had a smile on her face, she didn't think she'd be able to get rid of it for a long time after this, she was just so...happy.
