My limbs quivered beneath my muscular frame, nostrils flared, as I snorted loudly. The smells that wafted around, told that no horses wanted to be here. The stress, it was making me feel like bolting at the drop of a feather. I strained my neck to gaze over the wooden door of my holding pen, daring not to move, not to make a sound.
My body was laced in thick layers of sweat, as heavily breathing, I watched. Listened. The near silent shuffle of human footsteps on the concrete froze my head in place, as anxiously I saw a familiar woman come into view.
A black leather halter was coiled in her hand, knuckles white with her tight grasp. Her face also seemed unusually pale, dark hair tied tightly on a bun on top of her head. Closer and closer she came, and un-easier I felt. This woman had a special place in my memory. She had been with me most of my life, cursing with a long cracking whip. No one could understand how terrified she made me feel. Punishing, seemed to be the only way to her.
Instinctively, I shied away, spinning as far away as I could get. My gut churned with nervous pain, as I pressed fiercely against the wooden divider wall.
Yet, she still came forward. A frown on her face, she violently swung open the gate, and strided towards me. I freaked, but she blocked any way out. Shaking harshly, I lowered my head. I hated her. I hated them. Humans knew nothing, for what we wanted. Only for their own good and control, they broke us, tamed us, and set us tasks in which we had no option of choice.
She ran the halter quickly over my jet black face, and turned to exit, giving the lead a sharp tug. I silently obeyed, following her for what seemed to be forever, down hallways. Eventually, the noise grew louder. Chattering voices, booming microphones and whinnying horses blocked my ears. I was lead into a small entrance box, and I tried my hardest for her to realize - I didn’t want to be here. I just wanted my mother, my paddocks and my freedom.
Refusing to move, I lifted my head. Expected a strap in my face, I closed my eyes, but to my surprise, she only forced in down again, and clicked her tongue for me to move forwards. Again, I followed. Only as I had no choice.
This time, an open sand arena surrounded me. People gazed down from viewing platforms, as the voice started again.
“This purebred Oldenburg stallion is worth Nearly 10 grand, people. But as he desperately needs a new forever home, they are giving this future winner away, for the highest bidder. That’s right ladies and gentlemen, make a bid. He could be yours!”
I sighed, Lowering my head onto 'the bit.' If I had had one. I walked out forward, just as she asked me. I lifted my strong legs higher, as I had done this many times before. Around and around the training area at home, only perfectly before I could be released again. My jet black, tall bodice shone in the light magically as I preformed her dressage maneuvers. Dancing and Prancing, I listened to her. Hopefully, this would soon end. If I did it right.
Life wasn’t terrible for me. She was terrible for me.
[Sorry If this is bad. It is late at night here, at I really need to go to bed!]
